Helicopter Update Friday May 24 | Rocky
After yesterdays news about helicopters in Ghost Recon, we received some mail asking if it was for real, or if the posted images were fakes. Having just played Ghost Recon with a Helicopter flying overhead, I can assure you - this is for real! It was the most awesome thing I have ever seen in Ghost Recon, and it was achieved by modders! The funny part was trying to shoot it down, it just kept turning and chasing my guys! More news on this amazing achievement as the modders make further progress.

UBISOFT at E3 Friday May 24 | XianSaint
There sure is a lot of talk about E3...and if you're new to the gaming scene, or just never looked into it much...you may not realize how cool it would be to go. Just imagine, seeing all the newest games that aren't on the storeroom shelves running on some wicked fast computers and being able to demo a large portion of them. I think I would hang around whatever section had the Raven Shield display. Check out these pics of UBISOFT's section of the E3 and you'll see what you're missing. Helicopters in GR At Last! Thursday May 23 | Rocky
Way back in January, in Jester's  "Where Are The Helicopters?" report he wrote this about modding helicopters into Ghost Recon...

"I hope that some mod-maker will tinker with the code and figure it out"

Now, over four months later it looks like some inspired Ghost Recon modders have managed it - check out these awesome images!

Details are a little sparse on this awesome development, listen out for more news over the coming days!

Helicopers In Ghost Recon? Thursday May 23 | Daywanderer

There are only two days left to get your name in the hat - so do it right now! Splinter Cell Monday May 20 | XianSaint
Now that the demo (with mixed reviews) for The Sum of All Fears is out, we still get to look forward to Tom Clancy's: Splinter Cell. Some people are suggesting this game is going to be comparable to Metal Gear Solid - while an undisclosed source tell us that Splinter Cell "makes Metal Gear Solid look like Banjo-Kazooie", so let's hope that it's true! Check out the latest here, courtesy of gamers.com.

Realism Mod v5.0 UPDATED Saturday May 18 | Rocky
:GS: ArmyOfOne just dropped me an e-mail about the latest incarnation of the Gunslinger's popular Realism mod. How popular is the GRM? According to some research by Pie, the previous version managed to practically...

"... completely take over the Ghost Recon online gaming community"

.. and judging by the comprehensive Readme and 300+ hours that went into the new version, it's a safe bet that GRMv5 is also going to be hugely popular. You can read a review of the old v3.5 here, or grab the brand new version right now from our downloads listing in the right.

UPDATE : Listen out for a small patch soon, you can visit their website here.

MORPF goes live! Friday May 17 | XianSaint
What is MORPF you might ask? Well, its a collaboration of effort amongst the Ghost Recon community to stomp out cheaters. Simply put, this "anti-cheating initiative" establishes a charter that Clan Members and Players can agree to and endorse. Players listed in the charter will agree to its principles, and any violation will be publicized. This is an awesome effort by the fans to prevent and protect our games from falling victim to the hacks that so many others have. Check out this forum and post your comments, and be sure to check out the official site here.

Visit http://morpf.homestead.com/ for more details.

What Will You Play? Wednesday May 15 | XianSaint
The official Ghost Recon site has a new poll concerning the upcoming games that UBISOFT is publishing. Essentially, it wants to know what game you anticipate the most, or if you will just keep playing Ghost Recon. I wasn't too surprised by the results...it looks to be a Raven Shield vs Ghost Recon battle, which I think is an accurate representation of how the general (gaming) public feels. Check it out here.

The Mod Scene: Rawker Wednesday May 15 | XianSaint
Rawker has posted in our own forums about his latest project, still in the development stage, but looking sharp. The map, an industrial area, looks to offer some fun and exciting action...nothing like some good ole fashion CQB. Early screenshots are very promising and worth a look. Currently, the mod remains nameless and while Rawker wont code missions for it, he is willing for a talented mission scripter to contact him and maybe work out some kind of arrangement. We will continue to monitor the progress and report updates as they become available. Check out the forum and let him know how much we appreciate his hard work and talented efforts.

Just got word from SOTOMac that team SOTO will be releasing their mod SPV3 by this weekend. Although the full scale of what the mod offers is currently classified until release, I will say that I have read a brief description and seen some of the screen shots, and it looks awesome. This mod accomplishes some unique and interesting features, and will be worth checking out. Besides, if SOTO is behind it...you can count on it being top notch.

Raven Shield News Saturday May 11 | Jester
Word is out that all of the gun sounds for the new Rainbow Six game are being done by Danetracks. They have done sound work for several movies, including: 13 Ghosts, Swordfish, Romeo Must Die, and a little film that very few people have heard of called The Matrix.

For The Matrix, they "needed special recordings of bullets ... lots of bullets ... cutting through various walls."

While this is still not officially confirmed, we hope to get that word to you soon.

New Releases Saturday May 11 | Rocky
It's going to be a busy weekend for mod fans with the release of not one but two eagerly awaited mods.

Gizzmo Strikes Again Saturday May 11 | XianSaint
Gizzmo recently blessed the Ghost Recon community with a superb addition - Shadow Valley. The feedback on this map was excellent. So whats a modder do when he creates a great masterpiece? He gets started on the next one...and thats just what Gizzmo is doing...check out his latest work here, in our forum.

Splinter Cell: First Look Saturday May 11 | XianSaint
Gamespy has yet another in-depth preview of an up and coming Tom Clancy game...this time its: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. For those that always desired the realistic movements that were never included in our fav's like Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear and even Ghost Recon...then standby, because in this game you will be climbing fences, sliding down poles and ladders and even climbing up a chimney. Unarmed combat includes sneaking up behind the bad guy and putting him in a choke hold... Hmm...sound familiar...yes fans, I think this is Tom Clancy's and all PC owners answer to Metal Gear Solid...you doubt me...then read about it here and check out the screen shots.

We like the heat vision scope!

The Aftermath Friday May 10 | Rocky
ChrisCool has submitted his first mission mod, a 4 mission mini campaign.

"The missions are set in the days immediately following the end of Ghost Recon campaign.  Guerrillas in each of the formerly occupied countries have confiscated left over Russian weapons and are using their newfound military strength to try to seize power as the governments of their respective nations struggle to maintain law and order."

Grab The Aftermath from our Downloads section, and leave ChrisCool some feedback in our forums.

Serpent's Nest Friday May 10 | Rocky
Koichiro let us loose on his new mission "Serpent's Nest", and we are glad he did - this mission rocks! Koichiro has spent over 9 weeks on this engrossing mission, which features new sounds, voices and music, and the final version should have new uniforms.

What really impressed us though was the total mission experience this mod offers - it's like taking part in a Tom Clancy movie. There are twists and turns, developing objectives and clever use of sounds to bind it all together. Sorry Red Storm - but I enjoyed this more than the original Mission Five : Gold Mountain, the map on which this mod is based! As soon as Koichiro has finished fine tuning Serpent's Nest, it will appear in our Downloads, don't miss it.

I came across this in our mod section about a new map called Stalkyard by Low Profile. So far, its looking real good. Raven Shield Update Tuesday May 07 | XianSaint
The official Raven Shield site has added an updated interview with Chadi "Leviat" Lebbos, one of the producers of UBI's newest game in the Rainbow Six lineup. He answers a couple of questions regarding the progress of the Raven Shield development, and it appears his main emphasis was on the realism that the Dev Team is aiming for. This is good news for those that thought the Unreal Engine wouldn't be able to pull it off. Read the full interview here.

Gizzmo's Shadow Valley Map Monday May 06 | XianSaint
Came across this thread in the mods forum about a new map called Shadow Valley by Gizzmo. The screen shots looked sweet, so I downloaded it and gave it a whirl....and I must say...WOW! It's good. Offers MP and SP (though the SP is pretty tough...) The map is beautifully detailed with large rocks, lush vegatation and an eye catching waterfall. This download is a must have. Read about it here.

He accomplishes some innovative design features with his weapons in this mod. Expect a full review and analysis here soon after the mod goes public.

Pre-Orders for Raven-Shield Wednesday May 01 | XianSaint
Although there hasn’t been an abundance of Raven-Shield information released (yet), there are a few things worth monitoring. Amazon is taking pre-orders for the Rainbow Six: Raven Shield Prima Strategy guide. (Estimated release date: OCT 02). Look for it in the www.ghostrecon.net Amazon store soon and help support the site. If all goes well, expect to see Amazon offering pre-orders of the game in the near future. EB Games offers the same guide and their site shows a nice shot of the cover. In the mean time, Chips & Bits is taking pre-orders for the Raven Shield PC Game. (Estimated release date: NOV 02). This is only the beginning; so expect other PC vendors to start their “pre-order” advertisements soon.

Raven Shield

Official Polls Wednesday May 01 | XianSaint
The official Ghost Recon site has a new poll listed comparing the game play of Ghost Recon and Desert Siege. I must say that I was a little surprised by the results. Desert Siege scores are pretty low, and that is kind of a shock when one recalls how the stores couldn’t keep it on the shelves when it was released. Maybe the Desert Siege folks are too busy playing and haven’t voted yet. And speaking of polls, RSE has a poll asking where “the Ghosts” should defend next. I’m not sure how old this poll is, but seeing how Desert Siege has been out for a few weeks, one has to wonder if RSE has something in store for us in the future. Check out the Ghost Recon poll here and the Redstorm poll here!
