Ubisoft have confirmed details of the download pack for Summit Strike in this press release. Xbox Live Auto update will deliver the goods to Summit Strike fans. Team Xbox have a large feature on the DLC and also this video.

It seems that a number of Summit Strike owners are reporting that the game will not launch due to the Red X error. I've no doubt they are burning the midnight oil at Red Storm trying to replicate this issue and get a fix out ASAP. We'll post it here when we hear more.

*update* Most users are reporting that after 2 restarts the issue clears itself, let's hope so! Official help will be posted here.

Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike was released to Xbox owners in the USA today. This is a huge release for Ubisoft, and one of the most anticipated releases for the Xbox this year.

Review chat has started in our forums here. Here's a quick roundup of what some of the main stream gaming sites have to say about Summit Strike....

Team Xbox 86%  "......definitely hard to pass up"
Gamespot 82% "...just about everything you could want ..."
Gamespy 90% "...better than most games that are twice its price,..."
Worthplaying 85% "more material than most standard games nowadays ...great job on the expansion"

It looks like a convincing home run for Ubisoft as Summit Strike is consistently scoring high and getting some really nice comments from every reviewer who has played it. Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike is available here.

Badland Fortress is the final mission in Ghost Recon Summit Strike. It's a great looking map with sand storms blowing through sandstone ruins. Check it out yourself in this new movie from Ubisoft, feedback and comments in our forums here.

Helo Hunt

Helo Hunt is a brand new game type that will appear in Summit Strike, you can see it in action in this brand new Video Dev Diary released by Ubisoft today. Ubi really are putting out some cool movies in advance of Summit Strikes release. Helo Hunt looks like a blast as you and your co-op team co-ordinate to take down waves of helicopters!

The other game type on display is Armor Strike, where you must defend your tanks, while attacking the enemies. First team to see their armor destroyed by the other team, the loser.

SS goes Gold - *updated*

Summit Strike for the Xbox has gone gold, and the release date confirmed in a news post on Ubisoft's US portal.

"Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announces that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike, exclusively for Microsoft’s Xbox video game system, has gone gold and will ship to retail August 25th."

This caps a remarkable few weeks of great Summit Strike media released from Ubisoft, for this hotly anticipated title.

Update : August 25th is the euro release date, in the US Summit Strike will be released a little earlier (they need the practice), on the 2nd of August.

In a Question and Answer session released today Ubisoft reveal some more details on the promising Summit Strike expansion for Ghost Recon 2. The open non-linear gameplay is mentioned, multiplayer game types, maps and weapons are all discussed.

IGN have taken a close look at Ghost Recon 2 : Summit Strike, the stand alone expansion for the Xbox.
